Where to work? BB or TBT

A'kum everyone. I'm about to graduate from my journalism degree this year and I've been researching into which company would be better for me to work in sebagai journalist. Since tahun lepas, aku banyak research sudah into which company is better sebagai employer, BB ataupun TBT and banyak sudah pun ku dengar about these 2 papers. my dad reads both papers and bagitau sudah they are different papers, BB is more community based with light reading materials here and there, but TBT is more serious, focusing on Brunei punya ekonomi. Of course since my interest is business, I would prefer to work for TBT. But alot of my friends, ada yang pernah kerja sana and others yang kanal people di sana and they all have really bad stories to tell about the place. aku ingat last year someone kana fired, lapas atu di postnya di brudirect how management is pretty bad di sana, firing people yang they don't like. one of my friends who just left bagitau that TBT is run by a CEO, cina dari construction (?? pandai ka tu run newspaper?), yang gila gelaran and nama, and choose to fire siapa saja ia inda suka, and suka suka suruh orang buat apa apa saja ia mau walaupun against the law. I would really like to work for TBT cos I think ia punya content is better, tapi kalau management nya macam atu, my family surely inda suruhku ke sana. some people also bagitau nya management treat expats better than local, entah lah most places di Brunei cam atu jua.

So basically yang kan ku tanya everyone, anyone out there pernah work di TBT or currently working di sana that can tell me whether I should apply. I would really like to tapi kalau rumours nya banar, garantee my family inda nyuruh ke sana. Please help.

Journalist wannabe -

=========================

Dear Journalist Wannabe;

As your senior myself, i would like to advice you to try RTB.

the reason is simple, they are taking great steps forward in recent days. and RTB has been lacked behind for long compared to almost all other TV networks, however, it is the only broadcasting media there is in this country, broadcasting media is the future medium. news paper has its own advantages but not so much compared to electronic ones if you want to go far in this career. that is where you can really contribute as a fresh minds..

RTB is very important for Brunei society, if you really love this nation take part in those new initiatives in television and radio, take the challenges there and be part of new developments while gaining tremedous experiences.

TBT---To-Be-Terminated---- is seriously not a place for anyone with an aim of doing a good job for the paper or for this country. why? I do admit, what was said by others are nothing but the truth. as long as "the stumbling block" is there the paper will die off sooner or later. with 600 circulation after almost two years of publication, that is given. hopefully-unless the person on top circle who is backing this Idiot with full force recognises the truth before the paper is ruined. Nasi Katok Manager has already told you the facts.
Otherwise, that paper could do wonders for this country's social development. SAYANG indeed! (May allah sends some one to correct the situation there, Amin)

BB--- is an old paper that is indeed managed by NOT CONTRACTORS-, but, if you are new in the business you may find it difficult to feel the job satisfaction there. to introduce new ideas may face difficulties. otherwise it is a pleasant place to work in.

Now, WHy not RTB? good people there, good salary base, you will work with other crews whenever you run for asignments which will give you a hand since you are fresh in it, good attention given by the JPM recently, and you can see the progresses that they are making lately.
Please think of doing something for your country. it is very seldom we hear a Journalism degree holder in this country, you are one of that few, go shine at the right place.

Its time for many of us now to put the nation's interest before our own.......god bless!

Industrial Progress

Assume that our oil resources are large; assume that we are going to have oil for 120 more years. Still that does not mean that we Bruneians should still go on living the way we have been living.

I mean our philosophy(given below) is wrong and self-destructive: That is, let all us be consumers and let the producers be non-natives, foreign owned, let the bankers, big corporations, construction firms, large hyper stores, and service providers be who cares who owns. What we need is efficient and expensive service because we have the money and we have to spend it.

This is what has been done in countries like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and oil rich Middle East. They have big reserves of oil. The question is not one of continuity of oil supply. The question is when we are going to learn to be advanced industrially and self-sufficient like the Industrial countries of the West.

Thousands of people who have been to Haj know that Ihram cloth made in China, Taiwan and Korea are sold in almost all the shops in Saudi Arabia. Is it impossible for Muslim countries like Indonesia, Egypt, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Malaysia and many others to learn to make ihram cloth and stop buying such an important item from non-Muslim countries for a sacred duty (Haj). This is my point. When are we going to learn to make. Forget about the high cost. We have to learn to make things, so that one day in future we will be in par with advanced countries in the production of everything that our people need.

There must be greater industrial and technological co-operation between Muslim countries. Rich Muslim countries should invest part of their foreign exchange in developing industries in poor Muslim countries. But what we do now is leaving all our savings in the hands of foreign banks which make use of our resources to develop their economies, and in the process we remain zero in industrial and business skills.

Move the Blood Donation Centre away from RIPAS

Move the blood donation centre away or create a new one away from RIPAS.

This is to make sure that people who want to donate blood do not have to face parking difficulties at RIPAS.

How about setting up a blood donation centre at the Rimba Clinic or Kiarong Clinic? Bigger parking space and no mad rush as one do not want to pay for the parking ticket... heheh...

By the way, the security guards d ripas atu bahapa kan?
bermessage-message saja.... why do they let a BG car park in front of the "drop off" point, infront of the hospital while others cant? Why the double standard? Makcik and pakcik yang pakai wheel chair pun payah kan masuk ke kerita....

Is it time for RIPAS to extend the DROP OFF point at the front?

Yess!!"Low prices everyday?????"

GIANT - "Low prices everyday?????"
The motto seems not right i think it should sound lyk this "High prices everyday!".I did sum review on the items there n i found that most of the items are expensive if compared wif other shops in brunei.Just take this one example a big can of lactogen milk 1 n 2 for infants cost $20+.Wow!!!isnt dat expensive?Other shops it only cost $18+.So customers beware pls review before u make ur purchases.

beware - shopper_cheated@giantmall.com
*************************************
Check the price of one of these items sold at Giant:

1000 ml Dishwashing Liguid Glo at $0.99 which normally sold between $1.60 - $1.75 at other supermarkets! No other shop/supermarket in Brunei even in Miri can beat the price of it.

Fresh whole chicken is sold at $3.49 per kilo! the only price I managed to get is at roadside stall along Jln Berakas and Pulaie but at the price of $3.95 per kilo. At other supermarket the fresh chicken is sold between $4.20 to $4.80 per kilo!.

Indofood Mi goreng sold at $0.10 per pack compared to $0.50 at other shops!

Wat else??!! this evening I will check more cheaper prices of goods there!

re: teachers

Teachers are the first profession in the 'economy growth chain'. Brunei is just about to grow and hence teachers are the first in line to the market demand. With educated population then only we could go a step further. Next......

So don't blame anyone, until these are filled up then only we can move to the next level of growth.
